Next comes a pre-shave oil massaged into the skin, followed by a warm lather applied with a traditional brush. Your barber then works a straight razor along the grain for the first pass and, depending on your preference, against the grain for an even closer finish on the second pass. 1. Book during a calm part of the day. Avoid nap time or right before a meal — a well-rested, fed kid sits still far more easily. 2. Bring a comfort item. A favorite toy or tablet can make a huge difference in keeping a child settled in the chair. 3. Let them watch first. Kids who see a sibling or parent get a quick trim beforehand are usually far less anxious about their own turn. 4. Skip the surprise.
